Product Details

Our greeting cards are 5" x 7" in size and are produced on digital offset printers using 100 lb. paper stock. Each card is coated with a UV protectant on the outside surface which produces a semi-gloss finish. The inside of each card has a matte white finish and can be customized with your own message up to 500 characters in length. Each card comes with a white envelope for mailing or gift giving.

Artist's Description

Icarus, according to Greek Mythology, was exiled and imprisoned, along with his father Daedalus, by King Minos. In order to escape, Daedalus, an excellent craftsman, shaped two sets of wings using wax and feathers. Before taking flight he gave his son two warnings: do not to fly too close to the sun, but also, do not fly too close to the sea.

Icarus however, could not contain his exhilaration at being able to fly and soared through the sky, reaching too close to the sun. The wax holding his wings together melted. Icarus continued to flap his wings but the feathers loosened, then separated until his wings were no longer in tact. He then fell into the sea which carries his name: the Icarian Sea.

The title expresses his legacy: the consequence of personal over-ambition. Are we Icarus? Falling with our hand stretched out trying to grasp at a feather of hope? Or are we the beneficiaries of his legacy; grounded but with our sights to the sky, watching and learning as we catch...

Art of Ka-Son

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Ka-Son Reeves grew up cultivating his natural artistic ability by watching the creative processes of his father (a portrait artist) and his eldest brother (a pioneering Graffiti artist). Having received no formal art training, they instead were his artistic teachers and technical advisors. Over the years, Ka-Son has participated in many group and solo exhibitions throughout the northeast region. In recent years, Ka-Son has served as co-curator of 1199SEIU Gallery in NYC, has appeared as a guest on the television program "SteelStacks Live!", was hired as a courtroom sketch artist for the Pocono Record Newspaper, and served as director of ARTSPACE Gallery in Stroudsburg, PA.
